Our President Prof. Barış Tan Meets Faculty and Administrative Staff at the State of the University Address

This year, the State of the University Address was held on June 16, 2025, at the end of the 2024-2025 Academic Year, where our President Barış Tan met with our faculty and administrative staff. The meeting was widely attended by both on-campus and online participants, with simultaneous translation services and an online English presentation provided for our international members.

In his presentation focusing on the key activities planned for the beginning and end of each academic year in line with Özyeğin University’s strategic priorities, President Prof. Barış Tan stated the positive impact of the academic activities and achievements of the previous year. President Prof. Tan then highlighted OzU’s current standing and upward trajectory in global higher education rankings as a testament to OzU’s goal of becoming an “entrepreneurial research university” with a high global impact focused on transforming students, delivering exceptional education, and providing an excellent university experience. Prof. Tan expressed his gratitude for the harmonious work that the administrative staff and academics working together elevate the university’s already high standing in the global arena. For that, President Prof. Tan emphasized the importance of focusing on goals few in number yet thoroughly examined and successfully completed, rather than multiple goals, high in quantity yet half-or-never completed within the 4-year strategic plan.

In line with 7 main goals for the 2024-2028 vision, our President Prof. Tan reviewed 3 sub-categories for each main goal involving the academic and administrative activities within the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Some headlines of Prof. Tan’s presentation include: National and international awards by faculty members, OzU’s internationalization policies, research, impact-sustainability, OzU at international rankings (by subject), research, education, and project seed funds established by OzU’s own resources, new human resources practices, high-performing faculty members incentive programs, establishing special academic positions, student achievements, newly-established international mobility scholarship programs, collaborations with sectoral and academic institutions.

Our President underlined that 46% of Özyeğin University graduates are employed either before and at the time of graduation, and that those not employed at the time of graduation find jobs in an average of 3 months, which stands extremely high in Türkyie under current conditions.
